Manuscript Accepted by The American Journal of Nursing!

I wanted to share that a manuscript I submitted to The American Journal of Nursing for their Reflections column has been accepted. I do not have a publish date (likely several months out), but will keep you posted!

About The American Journal of Nursing and the Reflections column, from their website:

"The American Journal of Nursing is the oldest and most honored broad-based nursing journal in the world. Peer-reviewed and evidence-based, it is considered the profession’s premier journal. AJN adheres to journalistic standards that require transparency of real and potential conflicts of interests that authors, editors, and reviewers may have. It follows publishing standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE; www.icmje.org), the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME; www.wame.org), and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE; http://publicationethics.org/)."

"The Reflections essay, which appears each month inside the back cover of AJN, is a forum for previously unpublished personal stories exploring any aspect of nursing, health, or health care. While many are accounts of memorable nursing experiences, we also welcome the patient perspective, as well as that of other health care professionals. Good writing is the main requirement. [...] Avoid generalizations and clichés in favor of specific details and real immersion in a place, an event, a moment, a character. Anecdotes meant to illustrate cozy lessons usually aren’t what we’re looking for; we prefer the messiness and ambivalence of real life, the nuance and uncertainty of many of our hardest decisions, the ways we change our minds about things."
